Graduate Student Scholarship
The Graduate Student Scholarship is intended to provide CSPA-NYS graduate or doctoral student members with a scholarship to support successful complete their coursework/program (e.g., tuition, fees, books, or supplies).
Applications will be reviewed by a committee chaired by the CSPA-NYS President-Elect and scholarships will be awarded to recipients who best fulfill the outlined requirements. One or more $250 scholarship(s) may be awarded annually; however, the committee may choose not to award scholarships on the basis of the quality of applications received.
Eligibility Requirements
Be a paid graduate student member of CSPA-NYS | Register for Membership
Have earned a bachelor’s degree by August 1 prior to the application year (August 1, 2022)
Have earned a minimum cumulative 3.5 GPA in your current degree program or your most recent baccalaureate degree if they have been enrolled in a graduate program for less than a semester
Be accepted to and matriculated in a higher education or related field degree program in New York State
Not have received a grant within the previous two years
Individuals cannot submit more than one application for consideration in a given year (meaning, an applicant cannot submit multiple applications).
Criteria
Proposals/applications will be evaluated using the following criteria:
Articulated need and anticipated benefit
Current or potential involvement with CSPA-NYS
Application Materials
Resume: a current resume that includes most recent degrees earned or pursued and professional experience.
Recommendation Letter: a minimum of one letter of recommendation from a current supervisor or graduate program faculty.
Proof of Enrollment: either an unofficial transcript from current graduate program or a letter from current graduate program chair.
Essay:no more than 500 words describing why you are seeking the scholarship and how you will benefit. Please include previous, current or potential involvement in CSPA-NYS.
Expectations
Program, initiative, research, or practice must be implemented within one calendar year of receiving funding under this grant.
The primary applicant is expected to contribute to the organization. The options for engagement include:
submit a column for eLert
get involved with CSPA-NYS (i.e. serve on conference planning committee)
submit a program proposal for the annual CSPA-NYS conference
work with the VP for Professional Development to deliver a professional development event for CSPA-NYS membership
Timeline for Application/Selection Process
April 1st – Initial call for applications will be distributed.
June 30 – Scholarship Applications are due.
August 1st – Recipients notified.
September 15 – recipients must have connected with VP for Professional Development, prodev@cspanys.org to develop a plan for CSPA-NYS engagement, and the expectations must be fulfilled by the following June.
