Strategic Planning
2009 - 2012
In congruence with the mission, values and core functions of CSPA-NYS and with the ACPA-College Student Educators International, the Executive Board is committed to the following strategic goals. Each goal, championed by an Executive Board member and a team of relevant collaborators from across the CSPA-NYS membership, will develop plans, action steps, time frames and performance measures.
Goal - Professional Development: To provide professional development opportunities in support of professional practice for higher education professionals.
- To provide professional development opportunities for our members across regions, functional areas, professional levels, and topical areas while adhering to our equity and inclusion statement and ensuring that opportunities are inclusive of all the collective perspectives of our members. These professional development opportunities will be offered using a variety of mediums, with a focus on increasing our use of technology. Champion: Vice President for Professional Development and Vice President for Professional Development Elect
- To match CSPA-NYS program offerings to the professional competencies developed by ACPA, striving to ensure that programs are offered annually in support of each one of the professional competencies. Champion: Vice President for Professional Development and Vice President for Professional Development Elect
- To develop and conduct assessment of member professional development needs, with the goal of building assessment information collection into all outreach to membership. Champion: Vice President for Professional Development and Vice President for Professional Development Elect
Goal - Membership: To recruit and retain higher education educators from all levels and areas of the profession.
- To create a marketing and recruitment plan for the organization. Champion: Communications Coordinator
- To explore and develop various membership options for our membership including dual, institutional and undergraduate students. Champion: Membership Coordinator, President
- To assess retention and create a plan for retaining members. Champion: Membership Coordinator, Vice President for Professional Development and Vice President for Professional Development Elect
- To recruit and retain members from across the state in a way that is reflective of the variety of diverse talents, skills and perspectives of higher education educators. Champion: Membership Coordinator
Goal - Knowledge Creation: To support the creation of original research and the use of research in support of practice.
- To build systems within the CSPA-NYS structure and membership that support and encourage the creation of new knowledge and research in the State of New York. Champion: President, Faculty/Senior Student Affairs Officer Representative
- To build a process whereby the knowledge and research in the profession can be readily shared with CSPA-NYS members. Champion: Communications Coordinator
- To facilitate the use of professional knowledge and research as a guide for professional practice. Champion: Vice President for Professional Development and Vice President for Professional Development Elect, Faculty/Senior Student Affairs Officer Representative
